About the Hospital
Pope John’s Hospital Aber is a not-for-profit hospital located in the Oyam District of Uganda. We have 200 beds and the largest HIV Unit in Northern Uganda. Our mission is to provide quality healthcare for all persons regardless of ethnic origin, social status, religion, or political affiliation.With both clinical and community-based services, we take an integrated and sustainable approach to healthcare by supporting treatment, prevention, and training of other health workers.
The Comboni Missionary sisters founded Pope John’s Hospital Aber in 1969. We are owned and governed by the registered trustees of Lira Diocese.
